Sometimes, in the course of powering up or powering down, or soldering or installing, a wire will break loose,
some DC voltage will go astray, or an electron will inexplicably hop, with the result that some poor component
will pass on from this world unto the next.
It is my sad duty to inform you that on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, while in the burning-in process, a National Semiconductor
LM3875T was the victim of an unfortunate electrical accident. The constructor of the amplifier, while probing for
DC readings, managed to touch one of the probes to two different voltage sources simultaneously. A short while
later, after a flurry of sparks and a loud pop, the LM3875T was dead. Doctors were unable revive him. He is survived
by another LM3875T, an order of LM3875TFs and an order of a few BrianGT PCBs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that spare passive components be sent to the owner of this site. |
